Frequently Asked Questions
Question 1:
Besides the Internet PLC
Starter Kit, what else do I need in order to start learning PLC programming
over the Internet?
Answer:
- Your own 12 or 24V DC, 0.5 to 2A power supply
- Your own Window95, 98 or NT -based PC which has one unused RS232 serial port. Since the software is written in Java the PC should be at least a 166MHz Pentium or higher to run smoothly. Linux and Mac version will be tested and introduced later.
Question 2:
Does my computer need be
connected to the Internet before I can use the Internet TRiLOGI software? I am
using a computer that has no internet connection, and at the moment I have no
plan to program the PLC over the Internet, does it mean that I can t use the
Internet TRiLOGI?
Answer:
- No, Internet connection is not required to use the Internet TRiLOGI Version 5.0. If the PC used for programming has no internet connection, you simply log-in to the TLserver running on the same PC and use the localhost IP address: 127.0.0.1 to program the PLC. In this case, the software is simply a Window-based PLC editor, compiler and simulator software. Of course, if Internet programming is not required and you only have an old, low-end PC with limited memory for programming, you can always use the bundled DOS versions of the TRiLOGI software (Version 4.1x) to program the PLC (only 640K is required to use Version 4.1!). The DOS version of the TRiLOGI software has been in the market for many years and used by thousands of college students for learning PLC programming.
